Ice Skating at Tokyo Midtown
The outdoor ice skating rink at Tokyo Midtown is one of the largest in the city, with a capacity of 210 people. It’s perfect for beginners and advanced skaters alike, and children are welcome, making this a great family outing right in the center of the city. For a fun, romantic date option head to the rink after 5 p.m., when the lights on the surrounding trees are switched on.

Dolphin Dance
Naked Snow Aquarium
Spend a heartwarming time at Maxell Aqua Park’s performance, where dolphins beautifully dance in a venue surrounded by stars and ornaments drawn up by projection mapping. A starry night sky will color the exhibition area where illuminations move along with the music.

Waterras Winter Illumination 2026

Snow Fever
Sagamiko Resort's Snow Park
We haven’t been able to see much snow in Tokyo yet this year. Sagamiko Resort in Kanagawa, however, has got us covered — its Snow Park is a vast area covered in snow where kids can play all day long, ride they sleds (or tubes!), build snowmen and enjoy the winter weather to the fullest. Best thing? It's so close to Tokyo that you can easily make it a day trip!

Culture in Action
Grand Sumo Tournament
Watching sumo on screen can never replicate the feeling of watching it live: it’s an experience of an ancient living culture. The first of the year’s six tournaments, the Tokyo Grand Sumo Tournament takes place throughout the month of January. Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the day—though for the latter you'll need to get their early to grab one of the arena seats. More information can be found on their website.

MOMAT Collection Exhibition
If you're looking for an afternoon to get lost in art then head to the National Museum of Modern Art. Here you'll see over 200 artworks on rotation (out of approximately 14,000 works in total) that will leave you excited to come back for more. In this massive exhibit, explore 12 rooms that each follow a different yet overall cohesive theme. See how Japanese art has evolved and don't forget to check out Yoshitomo Nara's Harmless Kitty (1994) that's finally back after two long years.

Hot Pot Date
Nabe Hut 2026
Surrounding a hot pot with your family and friends in the beautiful city of Yokohama is a perfect way to warm up the stone cold weekend.
