Magical Sakura
Sakura Festival Nihonbashi

Cheer And Run
Shibuya Omotesando Women's Run
Based in the stylish pocket of Shibuya, the Omotesando Women's Run has become one of Tokyo’s most popular running events. Held annually, around 5,000 participants get together to enjoy the freedom of running through the Shibuya streets that are usually overrun with cars. Though the registration for this event is already closed, it’s worth making your way there just to enjoy the festivities and cheer the participants.

Akasaka's Antique Market

Tokyo Tower's City Light Fantasia
If you can't wait for the real cherry blossoms, take a tour to Tokyo Tower which has staged a special spring mapping projection of sakura in full bloom against the Tokyo night sky. A truly romantic experience, this is a place to go to impress your significant other (or your Instagram followers).

Sport Day
Tokyo Outside Festival 2026
Organized annually since 2013, the Tokyo Outside Festival is one of the largest outdoor family events in Tokyo. It features a wide array of outdoor activities and workshops for the kids, including “treeing,” a new take on tree climbing, bungee/trampoline jumping and, strider bike rides. There will also be food booths and outlet stalls. It’s a great place to play, experience, shop and eat outside while enjoying the sunny weather. Worth mentioning–it’s also free!

Bunkyo Sakura Festival
Welcome spring with the annual Bunkyo Sakura Festival. While the festival runs until April 6, this weekend will be the best time to head there as there will be a wide array of special cultural events, including taiko and music performances, a visiting zoo, parades and more happening under the famous location's 120 sakura trees, which are now almost in full bloom.

Walk The Garden
Flower Garden Yokohama
Witness Yokohama's Red Brick Warehouse turn into a massive (and gorgeous) garden under this year's event theme for this popular annual event. Launched since 2007 to commemorate the then-fifth anniversary of the renewal of Yokohama's symbol, this annual garden of some 14,200 blooming flowers is the perfect venue for a pleasant stroll amid blooming flowers and greenery. There will be many events and food as well, including, of course, edible flowers and blossom-inspired gifts to take back home.

Springing Into The Season.
Sawara Hinabune Spring Festival 2026
During the festival, Hina dolls from each family in town are display on storefronts with some dating all the way back to Edo and Meiji periods. The festival highlight is a parade on the Ono River with couples dressed in traditional Hina costumes alongside musicians playing traditional Japanese court music (gagaku).

Let it Burn
Mount Takao Fire Walking
Each March, a massive fire ritual called Saito Goma-ku is held at the foot of Mount Takao. Participants rub their bodies with sticks called nadegi before tossing them into the flames. When the fire dies down, participants walk barefoot over the hot coals, praying for protection from illness and strife, and for the safety of their families. It is believed that the fire purifies the body by burning away contaminations. For visitors, this is the perfect chance to see a unique Japanese tradition come to life.
